Job overview

Band 7 - Assurance Lead, Quality Governance - 30 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to lead the Assurance Team, to cover maternity leave, at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of assurance management including CQC, Quality visits, policy and guidelines management and the Trust clinical review programme.  

The post will provide support and guidance to clinicians and managers for all aspects of assurance management within the remit of the role, whilst actively promoting and supporting the continuous development of a proactive assurance and quality focused culture.

Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous; however the ability to coordinate and manage process is equally important

Main duties of the job

Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role as you will be required to work effectively with all senior levels of staff within the Trust.  The ability to work to tight and often changing timescales is also essential.

With excellent analytical and judgement skills the post holder will form opinions based on conflicting and complex information, ensuring written reports are presented professionally and succinctly.

A positive and inspirational leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate their team to reach their full potential is essential.

This is a fix term contract to cover Maternity Leave for 12 months.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of assurance management within the remit of the role including CQC and will contribute towards the Trusts overall quality management arrangements. The post will provide support and guidance to clinicians and managers for all aspects of assurance management within the remit of the role.
  • To manage the continuous development of all Trust Controlled Document management policies and procedures in line with NHS legislation and guidance and support practice throughout the organisation including responsibility for the maintenance and further development of the Trust’s Controlled Documents Database,
  • Support the continuous development of a proactive assurance and quality focused culture and practice throughout the organisation
  • Actively promote and ensure good assurance governance practices, and contribute to the achievement of national quality and assurance standards such as the CQC fundamental standards and internal and external performance indicators providing reports in respect of these as required.
  • To manage the coordination of any processes with a direct link to CQC, in term of Provider Information Requests and Enquiry Requests
  • To organise and coordinate the Trust clinical review programme and quality compliance framework assessments to ensure the continual development of safe, high quality care for patients attending the Trust
  • To prepare assurance related reports to inform the centrally and through the governance reporting structure.
  • To prepare regular controlled document updates reports, quality compliance framework reports and other reports as required for various committees and meetings.
  • Will have line management responsibility the assurance coordinator.
