An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Inpatient Therapy Department at Watford Hospital.

The ideal candidate will play an integral part on our Acute Admissions Unit (including A&E). The post is static and would be suitable for an existing Band 6 or an experienced Band 5 demonstrating a good range of skills ideally in emergency/acute care setting, care of the elderly and general medicine.

The successful candidate will join an ever growing integrated team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists and may share responsibility for supervising Assistant staff on the Team. Excellent clinical reasoning skills are a pre-requisite of this post.

The role will include being responsible for delivering advanced assessments and treatments to facilitate discharge from the acute Trust and prevent admission to the in-patient wards. The caseload is varied and challenging so an ability to work under pressure is essential, as is the ability to think on one’s feet!

Watford Hospital itself is a busy district general hospital but is forward thinking as to how best to develop services to benefit the patients care, and so there is plenty of opportunity for service progression, further training and promotion.

The post holder, at onset, will be supported by a robust in-service training, induction, probationary and appraisal programme.

The department is 7 day working and this post would be included in that rota (frequency of approximately 1:6 weekends) with rest days in the following week. Shift patterns in AAU/A&E are 08:00am – 16:00pm; 08.15 – 16.30pm; 08.00am – 18.00pm and 10.00am – 18.00pm (Monday-Sunday).

The post-holder would also have an obligation to participate in the evening respiratory on-call service.

We would be happy to discuss flexibility in working hours at interview.
Watford Hospital is well situated for access to the main motorways M25 and M1 to Watford Hospital.

The town centre has a wide range of shops and restaurants but it is also surrounded by some beautiful countryside and open spaces.
