Band 6-Orthoptist, Ophthalmology
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated Orthoptist to join our small team of two other Orthoptists.
This is a permanent position based at Watford General Hospital. In addition, we run Orthoptic clinics at St Alban’s City Hospital and outreach clinics in the community, including sessions at Potters Bar Hospital and Borehamwood; which the successful applicant will be involved with.
The caseload is varied and provides an interesting mix of paediatric and adult cases. The Orthoptic service receives referrals from GPs, Paediatricians, School Nurses and Health Visitors. The successful candidate may also be involved in visual field assessment. Opportunities may also be available for training in OCT imaging and refractions. We frequently have junior doctors and pre-registration Optometrists in the department, so an interest in teaching is desirable.
Although some experience is preferable a newly qualified Orthoptist would be considered. Part time working will also be considered.
In addition to the basic salary, this post attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum payment of £1,520 and a maximum payment of £1,762 per annum pro rata.
Applicants must hold a degree or diploma in Orthoptics, and be registered with the HCPC.
Hertfordshire is a great place to live and work. It is close to London, offering the best of both worlds for rural and urban living. There are numerous attractive and historic towns and villages close by, and excellent road and rail links to central London (30 minutes).
Interviews will be held on: 8th August 2019.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
