Are you looking for a challenge, if yes an exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Education Team in maternity to support undergraduate midwifery students?

There is the expectation that the successful candidates will work with clinical staff in hospital areas to ensure that assessments are carried out in a timely manner and that supervisors and assessors are supported, to meet the capacity expansion agenda, whilst promoting coaching within the learning environment.

The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing workforce.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Clinical Skills facilitator role has been designed to influence the quality of the clinical learning environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and Pre-registration learners. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing/midwifery workforce. By enhancing the quality of the learning environment, the education and training needs of full range of professional groups may be addressed.

The post holder will take a clinical role in enhancing the capacity and quality of the overall learning environment for non-medical healthcare learners within the Trust and will contribute to the management of our coaching model, to support capacity expansion, in line with national education agenda.

The post holder will work in close partnership with Professional Development Nurses and Practice Education Facilitators, the Divisions, Higher Education Institutions, Universities and the Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Workforce Partnership, ensuring that practice placement provision are met, as defined in the Learning Development Agreement (LDA) for Health Education England  to meet the requirements of National Quality Framework.

Work with the Educational lead for CLE, Workforce Partnership Practice Education Facilitators and University placement team to negotiate and ensure appropriate numbers of students are allocated to placements at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Work with Ward Managers to ensure the Trust meets the requirements of the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and other regulatory bodies in relation to mentorship provision and a live data base.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
